With the help of the PDPI SOFTcontroller, dead-beat PDPI control algorithms can be incorporated into compatible programming systems in accordance with IEC 61131-3. Standard controllers cannot be used in many technical control applications. However, in this case it’s possible to create defined controllers for any application through the use of basic modules. In addition to simple control tasks, highly complex controllers can be configured with special filtering tasks.

    • Configurable via PLC
    • Clock cycle depending on PLC/CPU and application: from 2 ms
    • PDPI control without overshooting
    • The control parameters are optimized by means of a specially developed process which can be started at any desired point in time.
    • 2-step, 3-step, continuous action and step-action controller
    • Any number of control channels can be configured within a single PLC – limited by performance and periphery only

    Additional features above and beyond the basic version:

    • Cascade, differential, ratio and switching control
    • Hot-runner control with actuating circuit and booster circuit
    • Synchronous heat-up
    • Water cooling algorithms
    • Plausible regulated temperature becomes active in the event of sensor failure
    • Setpoint ramps (up-down)
    • Heating circuit monitoring


    • Suitable for zones with temperature rises of approximately 10 to less than 1 K per 1000 clock cycles
    • Monitoring for sensor failure, reversed polarity and short-circuiting
    • Numerous monitoring functions

    Filters und Functions for Distorted Controlled Variable

    Parameter: Peak filter

    Function: Individual erroneous measurements caused by, for example, electrostatic discharge to the sensor, are suppressed.

    Limitation: -

    Parameter: Smoothing filter

    Function: In accordance with controlled system dynamics, several measured values are combined for control purposes in order to avoid an unsteady controlled variable.

    Limitation: -

    Parameter: Adaptive measured value correction

    Function: Suppression of periodic, constant or slowly changing oscillation.

    Limitation: Inactive if the period is longer than ½ delay time

    Parameter: Oscillation disabling(oscillation period: 3 to 200 clock cycles)

    Function: Suppression of oscillation with a constant period, if the period is longer than ½ Tu.

    Limitation: -

    Parameter: Feed-forward control

    Function: Suppression of controlled variable swells and dips in the event of load fluctuations, e.g. caused by operation/standstill of a machine/system

    Limitation: Load fluctuation interval much greater than delay time

    Parameter: Response in event of sensor failure, sensor error manipulating factor

    Function: If operation must be continued with a defective sensor, the controller reads out a plausible manipulated variable in order to maintain the working level.
